Compost Fun

Another new hobby of ours is guessing what is growing out of our compost pile. These are papaya trees.

Computer Training

Brian has started giving computer classes on Saturday mornings at another school in our area that is fortunate enough to have both electricity and computers. He has started with a basic typing program.

Pink Pancakes

If you ever want to color your pancakes pink (say for Valentine's Day), and you don't have food coloring (because you are in the Peace Corps), just use Kool-Aid! There are so many ways to be entertained in the village.

More Chess

Brian continues to draw a crowd for chess.

Permaculture Updates

Our school has been making progress with the permaculture project. Like the tree planting, this has been with little guidance from us which is ideal for a sustainable project. We have really just been encouraging them and helping a little bit with organization. These pictures show the "natural fence" that has been planted to keep goats out (they don't like that kind of grass), our friend and community member, Mr. Khondowe, working on his own permaculture garden, the students and teachers planning the garden and some of the seeds they collected in their seed collecting contest.

Tree Planting

As part of our permaculture project with the school we have started planting seedlings. Actually, I should say "they have started planting". The teachers and students took this on themselves. We are really happy and supportive of this initative to make our environment nicer.

Camp Sky Pics

Much overdue, here are some pictures of Camp Sky in November. Stephanie, our Peace Corps Volunteer Leader, who is now back home, did an excellent job with the photography. Hopefully you can open the pictures faster than we can.
